美國Catphan 500 CT性能測試模體已得到CT生產(chǎn)公司的認同，都用它來標示CT機的成像性能。該模體較依據(jù)AAPM 1977年1號報告生產(chǎn)加工的注水模體有很多優(yōu)點：因是固體模體，沒有漏水的問題；儲運箱能當模體支架，模體能探出掃描床外；低對比度分辨力模體由同一種物質(zhì)不同密度材料制成等。

醫(yī)療模體：

模體用來檢測醫(yī)院的CT性能，由塑料制成，Catphan500, Catphan600, Catphan5700, CTP500, CTP600, CTP700等. 另外一個是醫(yī)院的磁共振性能檢測模體，*使用有機玻璃制成，也有兩個型號，其中的圓柱形，就是Magphan® SMR170，廠家是美國模體實驗室。

功能：Phantomlab與物理學家兼哲學家Goodenough, Ph.D.,共同努力發(fā)展了Catphan®模體。新型的Catphan®模體設(shè)計是基于醫(yī)療成像儀器方面二十多年的科學研究和臨床經(jīng)驗。該種模體可以應用于軸向和螺旋CT掃描成像系統(tǒng)的各種操作評價以及質(zhì)量保證系統(tǒng)。

不同的模塊組成了Catphan®模體，這些模塊尚可適用于連續(xù)20cm空間。為了在Catphan®424中使用水容器，所有Catphan®組件都是由Solid-cast材料構(gòu)成。Solid-cast結(jié)構(gòu)可以降低材料的吸水性和水浴模體相關(guān)的露水問題。
